JOB DESCRIPTION – ASSISTANT MANAGER
- An Assistant Manager must meet all of the criteria in the Policies and Procedures manual plus the following;
- Must have received certification as an Assisted Living Home, Certified Care Giver or LPN.
- Must have a minimum of six- (6) months' experience as a caregiver in an assisted living home.
- An Assistant Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the home, including resident care, staffing and record keeping to meet all of the requirements of the Arizona Department of Health Services and the rules of the Governing Authority of this home while on duty as Assistant Manager.
- An Assistant Manager's duties include:
- Never leaving the premises when residents are present without delegating authority, in writing, to a certified trained caregiver, 21 years of age or older.
- Managing home activities.
- Planning and directing activities.
- Supervising and evaluation staff performance.
- Keeping all records including home, resident and files.
- Notify the Administrator and/or Governing Authority of any change in the care requirements of a resident that would justify an immediate rate increase.
- Ensuring that residents receive the care and services specified in their care plans.
- Ensuring that residents keep medical appointments and that refills of medicines are timely.
- Controlling all medications administered or self-administered within the home.
- Ensuring that medical orders are followed, and that physicians are informed of changes in the health status of residents.
- Ensuring that home rules are followed and assist residents in exercising their right, as set forth in the home's resident rights policy.
- Ensuring that staff follows all safety and sanitary procedures.
- Manage menus.
- Investigating any accident or incident within 24 hours and documenting corrective action taken on the report form.
- Assistant Manager is required to have a thorough knowledge of the Policies and Procedures manual.
- This position may require standing for up to eight hours, squatting, bending, lifting, and assisting residents with ambulating and transfer.
- This position requires that the employee be capable of transferring clients from a prone position to a standing position or into a chair or wheelchair without assistance.
