JOB DESCRIPTION - MANAGER
A manager must meet all of the criteria in the Policies and Procedures manual plus the following:
- Must have passed the State Board exam and have received certification as an Assisted Living Home manager.
- Must have a minimum of 3 month's experience as a caregiver in an assisted living home.
- A manager is responsible for the overall operation of the home, including resident care, staffing and record keeping to meet all of the requirements of the Arizona Department of Health Services and the rules of the Governing Authority of this home.
- A Managers duties include:
- Never leaving the premises when residents are present without delegating authority, in writing, to a certified trained caregiver, 21 years of age or older.
- Managing home activities.
- Planning and directing activities.
- Participating in the hiring of staff with the Administrator an/or Governing Authority, conducting reference checks and employee orientations.
- Supervising and evaluation staff performance.
- Keeping all records including home, resident and staff files.
- Coordinating and providing direct and indirect patient care, including home health services, family involvement, health and community resources and medication management.
- Participating in the evaluations of prospective residents for appropriateness of placement with the Administrator and/or Governing Authority.
- Conducting admissions and discharges, being responsible for completing or having resident or resident's representative complete all forms and paperwork required. Confirming receipt of evidence of freedom from pulmonary tuberculosis. Distributing copies of legal documents as needed.
- Scheduling preparation of new residents' care plans within 14 days of intake and scheduling reviews of care plans on a quarterly basis, or more often if needed. Assisting with assessment and preparation of care plans.
- Directing and monitoring dietary and environmental services.
- Notifying the resident's representative and/or assisting the resident in contacting the public fiduciary, a trust officer or another agency to take responsibility for the resident's affairs if a resident becomes incapable of handling financial affairs.
- Coordinate with the Administrator and/or Governing Authority, assuring that a 30 day written notice is provided to the resident of the resident's representative, if one is designated, prior to any rate increase of other modification to any other charge.
- Notify the Administrator and/or Governing Authority of any change in the care requirements of a resident that would justify an immediate rate increase.
- Ensuring that residents receive the care and services specified in their care plans.
- Ensuring that residents keep medical appointments and that refills of medicines are timely.
- Controlling all medication administered or self-administered within the home.
- Ensuring that medical orders are followed and, that physicians are informed of changes in the health status of residents.
- Ensuring that home rules are followed and assist residents in exercising their right, as ser forth in the home's resident rights policy.
- Ensuring that all persons in the home and individuals who require adult day care or respite care services in the home annually provide evidence of being free from pulmonary tuberculosis.
- Ensuring that staff follows all safety and sanitary procedures.
- Manage menus and maintain a file of menus for six months.
- Investigating any accident or incident within 24 hours and documenting corrective action taken on the report.
- Maintaining files on all staff and tracking all requirements for pulmonary tuberculosis tests, continuing education requirements, CPR and First Aid renewals.
- Manager is required to have a thorough knowledge of the Policies and Procedures manual.
- *Managers are required to share equally caregiver duties from 7:00am through lunch. During this period, Managers are to observe such client conditions as skin integrity, oral hygiene, personal care needs, insure that the facility is hygienically clean and list any maintenance needs.
- This position may require standing for up to eight hours, squatting, bending, lifting and assisting residents with ambulating and transfer.
- This position requires that the employee be capable of transferring clients from a prone position to a standing position or into a chair or wheelchair without assistance.
